Russia will continue humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, says Kabulov

KABUL: Zamir Kabulov said Russia has received authorization to provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and that assistance would be delivered if formally requested by Kabul.
Speaking with a Russian media outlet, Kabulov said Afghanistan’s ongoing domestic harvest season could temporarily ease the country’s food crisis, but warned that shortages may re-emerge in the future.
He stressed that Afghanistan still requires humanitarian and economic support.
Relations between Afghanistan and Russia have expanded in recent years in political, economic, and trade sectors. Russia is the only country that formally recognizes the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
