KABUL: The country’s National Examination Authority has announced that 120,000 candidates participated in the 1405 Kankor (university entrance) examination.
According to Naser Khan Shirzai, the 1405 Kankor exam was organized and conducted in four phases. The first phase included candidates from 15 provinces, the second phase covered 18 provinces, and the third phase was dedicated to 12th-grade graduates from Kabul.
Shirzai said the fourth and final phase included candidates who had missed the previous three rounds, graduates from abroad, graduates from nomadic and tribal communities, graduates of religious schools in Kabul, 14th-grade graduates, and applicants for evening university programs.
He added that separate examinations will be organized for 14th-grade graduates from the provinces of Nangarhar, Laghman, Kandahar, Helmand, Farah, and Nimroz.
The statement comes after some foreign media outlets claimed that only around 30,000 students had participated in this year’s Kankor examination. The National Examination Authority rejected those figures, saying the actual number of participants was 120,000.
