KABU: Chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the National Procurement Commission (NPC) meeting held today, approving 24 new development projects worth 11 billion Afghani (some 154 million U.S. dollars), Deputy PM office said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the meeting discussed 29 projects of which 24 projects were approved, 4 projects were canceled and one project was referred to the relevant committee for further assessment.
The approved projects included continuation of Kabul-Kandahar highway reconstruction, Kunar-Nuristan highway reconstruction, supplying electricity to various provinces and addressing challenges facing departments of the Ministry of National Defense, the statement added.
With the implementation of the projects, hundreds of thousands of people will be provided with job opportunities in the country.
