KABUL: The Ministry of Information and Culture has discovered a historic fortress in Parwan province dating back to approximately 300 BC.
According to a statement from the ministry, the fortress, known as Kafir Qala, is located in the Franjal area of Ghorband district and has been officially recorded for the first time in the Parwan Department of Information and Culture’s database of historical monuments.
The fortress was built on top of a hill in a highly strategic and well-fortified location, featuring numerous defensive towers, a large entrance gate, and high protective walls, according to the statement.
The Ministry of Information and Culture also stated that the Islamic Emirate’s decree on the protection of historical sites and cultural heritage is being implemented nationwide, adding that efforts are underway to restore historical sites requiring preservation.
