KABUL: Pakistan has requested $10 billion in financial assistance from the United States to strengthen its foreign exchange reserves, Reuters reported.
According to the report, Islamabad has proposed establishing a bilateral financial facility to support exchange rate stability, with a repayment period of up to five years.
Reuters, citing a source familiar with the matter, said the request came after Pakistan played a role in facilitating discussions related to the Iran conflict. The source added that Islamabad hopes the initiative will help secure greater economic support from the United States and other international partners.
Pakistan has faced persistent economic challenges in recent years, including declining foreign exchange reserves and pressure on its currency. The government has been seeking financial support from international partners, including the United States, to strengthen its economy and maintain exchange rate stability.
