KABUL: Mohammad Suhail Shaheen, Afghanistan’s ambassador in Doha, in response to the U.S. State Department’s Coordinator for Counterterrorism, has said the Islamic Emirate pursues a balanced foreign policy and seeks positive engagement with all countries based on its principles and values.
Speaking to Radio Omid, Shaheen said Afghanistan needs cooperation with other countries to advance development in various sectors, particularly economic growth. He added that the Islamic Emirate is working to expand its relations with different countries in line with its principles and national interests.
His remarks came after the U.S. State Department’s Coordinator for Counterterrorism said Washington would engage with the Islamic Emirate selectively and only on specific security-related issues where it serves U.S. interests.
