FAIZABAD: The provincial Director of Information and Culture of Badakhshan, Engineer Zabihullah Amiri, has been assassinated in an armed attack on Tuesday while traveling on the Baharak–Faizabad road.
According to the Badakhshan Police Command’s spokesperson’s office, Amiri was on his way to work when two armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on him.
The police said that one of the attackers was killed by Amiri’s security guards and the other one has been arrested.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the attack or the identities of those responsible, and the investigation is ongoing.
