Over 716,000 metric tons of goods transported by rail in one month

KABUL: The Ministry of Public Works said more than 716,000 metric tons of cargo were transported through the country’s railway network during the month of Saratan.

According to the ministry, a total of 716,300 metric tons of cargo was moved through various rail corridors, including 483,388 metric tons via Hairatan Port, 60,546 metric tons through Aqina Port, 71,905 metric tons through Torghundi Port, and 100,461 metric tons along the Khaf–Herat railway.

The ministry said part of the cargo consisted of Afghan exports, with pomegranate juice accounting for a significant share.

It added that the growing use of the railway network is helping expand trade and facilitate the country’s import and export activities.
