KABUL: Minister of Economy, Qari Din Mohammad Hanif, met with Taria Magnusson Watredal, Director General of the Norwegian Committee for Afghanistan, and her accompanying delegation to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation, continuing humanitarian and development assistance, and the committee’s four-year strategic plan.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Watredal outlined the organization’s four-year strategy, which focuses on three main priorities: food security, natural resource management, and health and rehabilitation.
She said capacity building and vocational training are also key components of the strategy. Watredal described communications as another important pillar, saying the committee aims to help present a realistic and positive image of Afghanistan to the international community.
Referring to the decline in international aid, she said the Norwegian Committee would continue supporting people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups despite limited resources, while coordinating with the Ministry of Economy to improve living conditions across the country.
Hanif praised the committee’s activities and emphasized the importance of coordination between the ministry and national and international organizations to ensure the effective implementation of humanitarian and development projects.
He described the committee’s four-year strategy as a significant step toward improving livelihoods in Afghanistan and reaffirmed the ministry’s support for programs that promote national interests, economic growth, sustainable opportunities, and public welfare.
At the end, the Director General of the Norwegian Committee thanked the Islamic Emirate for its cooperation and coordination, particularly in assisting Afghan returnees in recent years, and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to continued cooperation with the Ministry of Economy.
