Trump: New U.S.-Iran talks to begin on Monday

KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that a new round of negotiations with Iran will begin on Monday, according to media reports.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said, “Obviously, they don’t want to be attacked. They knew the scale of the planned strike. Now we’re talking with them, and those talks will begin tomorrow afternoon.”

Trump added that if the negotiations are successful, they could save many lives.

The U.S. president had previously said he had planned what he described as the largest military strike against Iran but claimed the operation was not carried out after Iran and Saudi Arabia opposed it.
