KABUL: The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said that 640 Afghan migrants have been released from prisons in Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan during the past week.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the ministry said 585 Afghan nationals entered the country through the Torkham and 55 others via Spin Boldak crossings.
The ministry said the returnees included families and individuals who had been detained and spent varying periods in Pakistani prisons.
The released Afghans were provided with necessary assistance before being transferred to their respective areas.
The ministry also called on international organizations to continue supporting migrants, facilitating their return and helping provide a safe and humane environment for returnees.
