Afghanistan, Iran discuss expanding economic and development cooperation

KABUL: Mawlavi Ahmad Jan Bilal, Director General of State-Owned Enterprises, has met with Iran’s ambassador to Kabul, Alireza Bigdeli, to discuss expanding economic, trade and development cooperation between the two countries.

Mawlavi Mohammad Nabi Bahar, spokesperson for the General Directorate of State-Owned Enterprises, said the meeting also focused on strengthening relations between Islamic countries and increasing joint cooperation in various infrastructure, production and development sectors.

Bigdeli said Iran is interested in expanding joint cooperation with Afghanistan’s state-owned enterprises in the oil, electricity, fertilizers, improved seeds, poultry and other sectors.

According to the spokesman, Bilal is expected to travel to Iran in the near future to hold talks with Iranian officials on oil-related contracts, trade and other areas of bilateral cooperation.
