KABUL: Afghanistan’s General Directorate of State-Owned Enterprises says Afghan and Turkmen technical officials have held a joint meeting to discuss the 500-kilovolt transmission line project from Turkmenistan and the Nur-ul-Jihad substation in Herat province.
The directorate said in a post on X that officials from the planning, programs and operations departments of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, along with a Turkmen technical delegation, discussed various aspects of the projects.
The two sides exchanged information on recent developments, technical capacities, work procedures, challenges, possible measures to facilitate the projects, and their current needs, the statement said.
A broader meeting is also expected to be held following the technical discussions, with the participation of Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, chief executive of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, to focus on specific issues and lead to joint agreements between the two sides.
The 500kV transmission line project from Turkmenistan is considered one of the key electricity projects aimed at meeting Afghanistan’s growing power needs, supporting commercial and industrial development, and contributing to economic stability.
