KABUL: The first joint exhibition of light industries from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan has opened at the Termez International Trade Center, with officials from both countries attending the opening ceremony.
Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi said the exhibition was the result of meetings, official negotiations and visits by delegations from the two countries.
He added that Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have taken important steps in recent years to expand their trade, transit and economic relations.
Ismatullah Ergashev, Uzbekistan’s special representative for Afghanistan, also stressed the importance of further developing and expanding trade and transit ties between the two countries.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, a cooperation agreement was signed between Ghazanfar Bank and Uzbekistan’s commodity exchange, UzEx.
The three-day exhibition features more than 100 booths showcasing Afghan products, including carpets, saffron, precious and semi-precious stones, handicrafts, cotton, dried fruits and clothing.
