KABUL: Mawlavi Mohammad Nabi Bahar, spokesman for the General Directorate of State-Owned Companies, has announced that an Ariana Afghan Airlines B737-300 cargo aircraft arrived at Kabul International Airport today.
According to Bahar, the charter cargo aircraft will be used to transport commercial goods and support international trade, with a capacity to carry around 17 metric tons of cargo per flight.
The statement said Ariana Afghan Airlines has signed a one-year agreement with UAE-based Air Charter Express to use the aircraft.
Officials from Ariana Afghan Airlines said the launch of the cargo service is part of efforts to expand Afghanistan’s air transport network, increase exports by air and strengthen the country’s air freight capacity.
The aircraft is expected to allow Afghan traders to transport domestic products to international markets more regularly, quickly and safely.
