KABUL: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has reiterated its commitment to supporting the people of Afghanistan, saying it will continue engagement and practical cooperation with the Islamic Emirate.
The remarks were made at a meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Afghanistan, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The meeting discussed Afghanistan’s humanitarian and development situation and ways to strengthen the international community’s response to the country’s challenges.
OIC Secretary-General Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed said engagement and practical cooperation with the Islamic Emirate are important for protecting the interests of the Afghan people and ensuring the continuation of humanitarian assistance.
He added that through its office and mission in Kabul, the organization continues its efforts in education, healthcare, and social cohesion.
