KABUL: Afghanistan’s National Statistics and Information Authority says the movement of 15,449 foreign nationals through the country’s airports and land ports was recorded during the first six months of 1405.
The authority said 8,538 foreign nationals, including 349 women, entered Afghanistan during the period, while 6,911 others, including 197 women, left the country.
Of those entering Afghanistan, 8,437 arrived through land ports and 101 by air. The authority said 931 of them came to visit archaeological and historical sites, while the remainder entered for work.
According to the recorded figures, the highest number of foreign nationals entered Afghanistan through ports in Nimroz province, totaling 5,034. This was followed by 2,659 who entered through Herat’s land ports and airport, 652 through the Aqina port in Faryab province, and 67 through the Ishkashim port in Badakhshan province.
The National Statistics and Information Authority said that, in addition to recording the movement of foreign nationals, its relevant department is also responsible for registering Afghan citizenship applications and renunciations, as well as major life events.
