FAIZABAD: Rahmatullah Najib, governor of Badakhshan, says the Islamic Emirate’s 20-year struggle was not an ethnic one but was aimed at establishing and maintaining an Islamic system in Afghanistan.
Speaking at a ceremony marking the opening of the Wakhan road, Najib said previous Afghan governments had implemented models from foreign countries. However, he argued that Afghanistan is an Islamic and traditional society and that models from other countries are not effective in the country.
“Security is now ensured across Afghanistan, particularly in Badakhshan, allowing people to travel freely during both day and night,” he said.
Najib warned that no opposition movement against the Islamic Emirate would be allowed and that those involved in such activities would face legal and security measures.
