KABUL: Human Rights Watch has called on the United States and other countries involved in the war in Afghanistan to investigate alleged war crimes committed by their forces and provide compensation to victims.
In a statement marking 25 years since the start of the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan, the organization said many victims of human rights abuses have yet to receive justice or reparations.
Human Rights Watch also raised concerns over cases involving torture, arbitrary detention and the killing of civilians by foreign forces and other parties to the conflict.
The organization stressed that all parties involved in the Afghanistan war should be held accountable for human rights violations and alleged war crimes, and that victims and their families should have access to justice and compensation.
