ISLAMABAD: UN Secretary-General António Guterres said at a press conference in Islamabad that the United Nations is committed to working with Pakistan to ensure adherence to principles for the protection of migrants.
He stressed that the return of Afghan migrants should be voluntary, safe and dignified.
The UN secretary-general added that Pakistan had hosted millions of Afghan citizens for several decades.
Pakistan has intensified the process of returning Afghan migrants in recent years.
The process began after Pakistan announced a plan to return undocumented migrants, and thousands of Afghan citizens have since been deported to Afghanistan.
