Afghan, Iranian Energy Ministers hold talks on expanding water and energy cooperation

KABUL: The Minister of Water and Energy, Mullah Mohammad Yunus Akhundzada, met with Iran’s Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi and his accompanying delegation to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in water and energy.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Water and Energy, the two sides discussed the use of each other’s experiences and investment opportunities in Afghanistan’s energy sector, including energy generation, transmission and distribution.

Deputy ministers from the two countries’ water and energy ministries, officials from state-owned companies and several heads of relevant departments also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Iran’s Energy Minister formally invited Akhundzada to visit Iran and assess the situation of the country’s water and energy sectors.
