KABUL: Ziaur Rahman Spin Ghar, the provincial head of Kunar’s Directorate of Information and Culture, said that three people were injured and residents suffered extensive financial losses following heavy rainfall, flash floods and a lightning strike in the Grangal area of Chapa Dara district over the past 24 hours.
According to Spin Ghar, the floods swept away nine cars and seven motorcycles and also damaged or destroyed 17 shops, a mosque, two livestock, and a flour mill.
He added that the floods also destroyed part of a road in the Deegal area of Chapa Dara district.
The route is currently closed to traffic.
