Pakistan’s pharmaceutical exports fall to $319 million amid trade disruptions with Afghanistan

KABUL: Pakistan’s pharmaceutical exports fell from $457 million to $319 million in the 2026 financial year, representing a significant decline.

Pakistan’s Business Recorder reported that disruptions in trade with Afghanistan were among the key factors behind the decline, as Afghanistan had previously been one of Pakistan’s major pharmaceutical markets.

According to data from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Pakistan exported approximately $155.6 million worth of pharmaceutical products to Afghanistan in the 2025 financial year, accounting for nearly 34% of the country’s total pharmaceutical exports.

The figures show that Pakistan’s pharmaceutical exports declined by around $138 million, or nearly 30%, in one year.
