Dr. Ebad discusses eradicating polio in four-day health meeting in Qatar

KABUL: Leading a high-ranking delegation the Acting Minister of Public Health Dr. Qalandar Ebad during his visit to Doha capital of Qatar, attended a four-day health meeting held in that country, the ministry said in a statement the other day.

In the four-day tripartite meeting, held between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Polio Eradication Technical Advisory Group (TAG) in Doha, will discuss the polio eradication, the statement said.

Dr. Qalandar Ebad said in the meeting that access to the polio vaccine is currently available throughout the country, adding that 70,000 employees, including women, are actively working to eradicate childhood paralysis in Afghanistan.

He called on polio eradication funding institutions to increase their cooperation in strengthening the health sector in Afghanistan.

In the four-day meeting, the participants will discuss ways to eradicate polio.

Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two countries in the world where polio still exists.
