Japan seeks to expand relations with Afghanistan in all areas, Yamamoto

KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, today met with Tadamichi Yamamoto, the former head of UNAMA in Afghanistan and the current president of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, his accompanying delegation and Takayoshi Kurumaya, the Japanese Ambassador to Kabul, here in his office, Arg said in a statement.
“Praising the recent progress and achievements of the Islamic Emirate in the country, Yamamoto said that Japan desires good and friendly relations with Afghanistan in all areas, especially in the economic and trade sectors,” according to the statement.
Meanwhile, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, pointing to the friendly and historical relations between Japan and Afghanistan said that Kabul wants these relations to continue and expand in the best possible way.
“The projects implemented by Tetsuo Nakamura reflect the depth of the relationship between Tokyo and Japan,” the statement quoted him as saying.
