Interior Ministry rejects SIGAR report on continuation of drug trafficking in country

KABUL: Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior Affairs Mufti Abdul Mateen Qani in a statement today rejected the recent report of the US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) regarding the continuation of drug trafficking in the country.
“After the establishment of the Islamic Emirate and the issuance of order by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate regarding the ban on the cultivation, production, trafficking, sale, and consumption of narcotics, serious fight against this phenomenon is underway,” he said.
The fight against drugs has been one of the priorities of the ministry, and there is no exception in this regard, he said adding in the past two decades, despite the influx of billions of dollars and the presence of foreign forces in the country, the production and trafficking of drugs have flourished.
Mufti Abdul Mateen emphasized that the concerns of some foreign organizations and countries about the continuation of drug trafficking in the country are unfounded.
It is worth mentioning that the US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) has recently reported that drug trafficking in the country is still ongoing.
