KABUL: According to reports, after the rape and murder of a female doctor in India, thousands of citizens of the country have taken to the streets in protest.
These protests have been launched in the city of Kolkata, located in eastern India.
The protesters have condemned the sexual assault on a female doctor and her subsequent murder, even in a government hospital, and they are calling for the punishment of the perpetrators of the incident.
Meanwhile, Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, speaking in a ceremony to commemorate India’s Independence Day, said that the perpetrators would be hardly punished and emphasized that he is committed to restoring trust in society.
It is reported that the protests by Indian citizens have also spread beyond the city of Kolkata.
It is worth noting that the body of a 31-year-old female doctor, who had been raped and killed, was discovered at a government hospital in India last week.
