KABUL: Presided over by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the meeting of the National Procurement Commission was held today, approving 31 new development projects worth 5 billion Afghani (some 70 million U.S. dollars), his office said in a statement.
According to the statement, the meeting discussed 40 projects of which 31 projects were approved, 7 were amended, one was canceled, and the relevant committee was tasked with renegotiating the cost of one project with the contracting company and submitting their report to the NPC for approval.
The approved and amended projects include the completion of the remaining work on the Ab Gardan Storage Dam in Badghis province, the rehabilitation of a turbine at the Naghlu Power Plant, the provision of electrical equipment in various provinces, and the provision of high-quality and fast telecommunications and internet services to citizens, the statement added.
According to the statement, the delivery of services at various customs across the country, and the completion of a major water supply network in Qala-e-Naw city in Badghis, have been discussed in the meeting.
