KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, in a meeting, praised the Afghan Under-17 National Football Team, following the team’s historic victory in the Central Asia Football Championship, Arg said in a statement on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by the President of the National Olympic Committee and Sports of Afghanistan Mawlawi Ahmadullah Wasiq, and Qari Ahmad Jan and Mohammad Yusuf Kargar, the officials of the football federation, the statement said.
Congratulating the historic win of the team, Mawlavi Kabir said that the Islamic Emirate supports the athletes.
“ There is a please of pleasure that the people of Afghanistan are celebrating the recent victory of the under-17 National Football Team under the rule Islamic system and reminded that the victory of Afghans in the competitions is due to the support and good leadership of the Islamic Emirate,” the statement quoted Mawlavi Kabir as saying.
In a thrilling final match on September 3rd, the Afghan team emerged victorious, defeating Uzbekistan 1-0.
The Central Asia Football Championship is a highly competitive regional tournament, with top teams from across the region participating.
