KABUL: The officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock says that irrigation projects worth 50 million Afghanis are underway in 11 provinces of the country.
In a press conference held today at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) sharing one year’s achievements, the officials of the ministry said that the construction of 138 check dams are underway in the country in order to strengthen the groundwater, and will be completed soon.
To promote new farming methods, 1,500 exhibitive plants have been created and 80,000 hectares of land have been protected from epidemics, said the officials.
According to the officials, 1.7 million hectares of forests and 30 million hectares of pastures have been protected in 34 provinces, and 125,200 saplings have been planted to revive the forests.
