KABUL: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, has called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to assist in unfreezing Afghanistan’s frozen assets.
He made the remarks at the 50th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC member countries held in Cameroon.
In the meeting, the acting Foreign Minister emphasized that lifting travel restrictions on senior officials of the Islamic Emirate is another expectation Afghanistan has from the OIC.
Urging the Islamic countries to engage in economic and trade relations with Afghanistan within the framework of mutual legitimate interests, he said: “Afghanistan with its strategic location, vast natural resources, human resources, secure environment, balanced foreign policy, and economy-oriented approach, offers excellent investment opportunities.”
He stressed that Afghanistan has achieved lasting security and stability after decades of conflict and is committed to establishing relations based on mutual interests.
Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi also pointed to the crimes and genocide committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza, stating that the global order has not only failed to curb the oppressors over the Palestinian people but has also provided financial, military, and propaganda support against the oppressed Palestinian people.
Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi traveled to Cameroon to participate in the 50th meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.
