KABUL: The Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan in the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), Georgette Gagnon, in a meeting with the Acting Minister of Interior Affairs Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, said that the relations between the Islamic Emirate and the UN has been strengthened.
According to a statement from the spokesman of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, Mufti Abdul Mateen Qani, the meeting was also participated by Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in UNAMA, Indrika Ratwatte.
According to the statement, Mrs. Gagnon appreciated the security provided for UN personnel in Afghanistan and discussed the continuation of the organization’s assistance.
Meanwhile, Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani assured that security prevails throughout the country, adding that each UN member or other assisting entity can confidently continue their activities.
This comes as national and international aid organizations are engaged in providing public services in the most remote areas of the country.
