Reconstruction work on Bamyan Airport worth 40 mln begins

KABUL: Construction work on Bamyan Airport worth 40 million Afghanis (some 575,365 US dollars), during a ceremony has been kicked off today, the governor’s press office said in a statement.

The construction work has been commenced in the presence of Bamyan province’s governor and a delegation led by the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation.

The statement noted that 600 meters of the runway at Bamyan Airport will be fundamentally reconstructed within the next eight months.

Mawlavi Abdullah Sarhadi, the governor of Bamyan, stated that the implementation of this project will resolve the disruptions that have affected flights.

Previously, parts of the runway at Bamyan Airport had been damaged, causing interruptions in flight operations.
