10,000 homes built for earthquake-affected families in Herat in past year

HERAT: Local official says that 10,000 residential houses have been built for Herat’s earthquake-affected families in the past one year.

The provincial Director of Information and Culture of Herat Mawlavi Ahmadullah Muttaqi, in an interview with the Radio Television of Afghanistan (RTA), said that in addition to housing, other facilities, including access to safe drinking water, have also been provided to earthquake survivors in affected areas over the past year.

He added that the construction of homes for the affected families continues.

Meanwhile, residents of the earthquake-affected areas in Herat have expressed their gratitude for the efforts and support provided by the officials of the Islamic Emirate to the earthquake survivors.

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck western provinces of the country, particularly Herat, in October of last year, in which nearly 1,500 people lost their lives, and around 2,000 others were injured.
