Mullah Baradar inaugurates 31st Autumn Agricultural and Livestock Products Exhibition

KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, said that opium cultivation in Afghanistan has currently reached zero and that alternative livelihood projects are being implemented.

He made the remarks today [Wednesday, October 16] at the inauguration ceremony of the 31st Autumn Agricultural and Livestock Products Exhibition, here in the Badam Bagh area of the capital Kabul.

The exhibition was which organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, was attended by high-ranking Emirati officials, entrepreneurs, traders, gardeners, farmers, and thousands of citizens.

During the exhibition, Mullah Baradar also noted that since the restoration of the Islamic Emirate informal economic activities have ceased in the country.

Meanwhile, the Acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said that Afghanistan’s farmers have fallen behind in adopting new cultivation methods.

He highlighted the need for agricultural mechanization in the country.
