KABUL: The Ministry of Water and Energy said in a statement today that a solar power plant project with a capacity of 20 megawatts will be implemented in Bamyan province.
According to the statement, Acting Minister Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour traveled to Bamyan with the Chinese ambassador and accompanied by Mawlavi Abdullah Sarhadi, the governor of the province, to visit the designated area for the project.
Minister Mansour stated that preliminary studies for the project have been completed, and they traveled to Bamyan to facilitate its implementation.
He added that the project will be funded through a grant from China, the statement said.
The statement quoted Zhao Xing, the Chinese ambassador, affirming Beijing’s commitment to financing the project.
The Ministry of Water and Energy noted that the implementation of the 20 MW solar power plant project will significantly meet the electricity needs of the residents of Bamyan province.
