KABUL: The Herat provincial officials said that efforts are underway to repair and reconnect the 220 KV electricity line imported from Turkmenistan, the governor’s press office said in a statement on Tuesday.
The electricity supply had been interrupted at eight points in the Band-e-Baqerchar area due to severe cold and freezing conditions.
The operational teams have successfully addressed issues at seven of the affected points, with one remaining, said the statement, adding operations were conducted until 1:30 AM on Monday night, but the teams were unable to restore the electricity supply. The efforts to resolve the remaining issue will continue today, with plans to reconnect the electricity.
Herat is recognized as a strategic and industrial province in the western part of the country.
