Islamic Emirate expresses discontent over diplomatic relations reduction with Norway

KABUL: The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Abdul Qahar Balkhi, in a statement on Friday, expressed its dissatisfaction with the announcement from the Kingdom of Norway regarding the reduction of diplomatic relations with Afghanistan.

The Islamic Emirate expressed hope that such decisions would not affect internal matters between Afghanistan and Norway, said the statement adding that political interaction is essential, particularly when mutual respect between both parties is strengthened, even in the face of differing viewpoints.

“Consular services are fundamental rights of citizens from both countries. The Islamic Emirate will make every effort to prioritize cooperation by international principles,” the statement said.

It is noteworthy that the Norwegian government recently announced the reduction of its diplomatic relations with Afghanistan.
