Hundreds of millions of worn-out banknotes burned

KABUL: Da Afghanistan Bank, the country’s Central Bank, said in a statement on its X account that over 8.6 million worn-out Afghani banknotes have been burned in order to facilitate the transactions of the people.

Afghanistan Bank said that the banknotes were burnt under the supervision of a delegation led by the second vice president of the bank after (counting and controlling).

“The banknotes included 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1000 notes, which were collected from different parts of the country,” said the bank.

Afghanistan Bank had already burned old money and advised the people to protect their money properly.
