KABUL: The U.S. Department of State has announced plans to impose new sanctions on Pakistan’s missile programs.
In a statement released, the department said that four companies involved in the development of Pakistan’s ballistic missile programs would be sanctioned.
Further details regarding the nature of the sanctions and the specific companies involved have not been disclosed.
In response, Islamabad has reacted to the U.S. statement, asserting that its missile program is a defensive option.
This announcement comes, as recently the Pakistani military has conducted ballistic missile tests.
