KABUL: The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Fathali, visited Herat on Wednesday, where he met with Mawlavi Islamjar, the governor of Herat province, the governor’s press office said in a statement.
In the meeting, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister praised Herat’s economic programs, particularly in the industrial sector.
Meanwhile, Mawlavi Islamjar welcomed the expansion of economic cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran, emphasizing the need for increased transit collaboration and the effective operationalization of the Khaf-Herat railway line.
Herat is a strategically significant province in western Afghanistan, sharing a border with Iran.
The Khaf-Herat railway project has been initiated in this province to enhance connectivity between Kabul and Tehran.
