Talks for exchange of Afghan and American prisoners fruitless

KABUL: The deputy spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, said that the talks between the Islamic Emirate and the United States about the exchange of prisoners are still ongoing, but no results have been reached yet.

Earlier, the British newspaper “Telegraph” reported that the Islamic Emirate delayed the process of exchanging prisoners until the inauguration of Donald Trump, to attract his attention.

It was stated in the report that the Joe Biden administration and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan are talking for the exchange of American citizens who are imprisoned in Afghanistan with Mohammad Rahim Afghani, a prisoner at Guantanamo Bay.
