KABUL: Qari Barakatullah Saleem one of the country’s renowned memorizers of the Holy Quran and prominent religious scholars passed away Saturday due to a serious illness he was suffering, his relatives told media.
Qari Barakatullah Saleem was born in 1392 in Nangarhar province and die at the age of 73.
He has participated in many national, regional and international competitions and has won the first place eight times in interpretation, tajweed and recitation of the Holy Quran.
He was not only a Hafiz, but also a teacher of religious sciences and a poet of Pashto language. A collection of his poetry and several religious books have been published.
Due to his sweet voice, Qari Saleem had many fans who were saddened by his death, and many of his fans published condolence messages in social media platforms.
Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate Zabihullah Mujahid, on his X page, expressed his deepest sorrow over the demise of the known memorizer and called his death a “great loss” to the country.
