KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Mawlavi Abdul Kabir in a meeting with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) Roza Otunbayeva said Afghanistan wants to be active member of the United Nations, Arg said in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs said: \u201cAfghanistan remains an active member of the international community and should also be an active member of the United Nations\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed concern over the forced deportation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan, noting that this issue could harm relations between the two countries. The United Nations Special Representative said that she had shared the concerns with Pakistani officials during her visit to Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of UNAMA also stated that despite other important issues in the world, Afghanistan holds its position in the international community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe international community desires to continue providing assistance and collaboration with Afghanistan,\u201d the statement quoted UN representative as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Otunbayeva, Doha meeting is an opportunity for Afghanistan\u2019s people to attract humanitarian aid, promote stability, and foster development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The United Nations representative has expressed hope that the Islamic Emirate’s authorities will also participate in the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
