Musk announced his resignation on X this morning (Thursday, May 28).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” he wrote. “The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, a White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the news of Musk’s resignation to Reuters and the Associated Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Musk, the richest man in the world and a key supporter of Trump in his election campaigns, was appointed as the Department of Government Efficiency following Trump’s victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
