KABUL: The foreign ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) concluded their 51st session in Istanbul, Turkey.
The meeting ended with the issuance of a 33-point declaration on Sunday night.
According to the declaration, the members expressed their support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and condemned the Israeli regime’s attacks on Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, urging the international community to hold Israel accountable.
The 51st session was titled “The Organization of Islamic Cooperation in a Changing World.”
The second point of the declaration reiterated the centrality of the Palestinian issue for the OIC and emphasized firm support for the establishment of a sovereign and contiguous Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The organization stated that the two-state solution is the only viable path to peace and stability in the entire region.
Point 11 of the OIC declaration condemned Israel’s destabilizing policies in the region and its recent attacks on Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, which are clear violations of the sovereignty and security of these countries and international law.
The declaration called on the international community to take preventive measures to stop these aggressions and hold Israel accountable for its crimes.
