KABUL: The feasibility studies and detailed design for the Lorah Dam worth 102 million Afghanis, during a ceremony has been kicked off in the Arghistan District of Kandahar province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Ministry of Water and Energy today the ceremony was attended by the Islamic Emirate’s high-ranking officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the ceremony, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, stated that the commencement of this project reflects the Emirate’s commitment to managing the country’s water resources and fostering economic growth in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that the Islamic Emirate is committed to serving the welfare and development of the country across all sectors and has taken significant steps in this regard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, the acting Minister of Water and Energy, mentioned that after the feasibility studies and detailed design phase, construction of the Lorah Dam will also commence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the statement, the project will be implemented through investment in the mining sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The contracted company, Afghan German, is expected to complete the feasibility studies and detailed design within the next 18 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aim of the project includes water management, irrigation of agricultural lands, electricity generation, flood control, and groundwater replenishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
