KABUL: Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, has recently urged the UK government to promptly recognize Palestine as an independent state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Guardian reported on Wednesday night that Khan’s request comes amid a growing chorus of calls from three UK cabinet ministers and at least 60 Labour Party MPs advocating for the same recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The London mayor emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian assistance as civilians are suffering and dying in Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that the UK government and the international community should exert pressure on Israel to halt the “meaningless killings.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Khan warned that if no Palestinians remain, there will be no viable solution to the “two-state solution.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports indicate that David Lammy, the UK Foreign Secretary, has recently described the actions of the Israeli military in Gaza as “horrific” and has called for an end to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
