KABUL: A raisin processing factory named “Samon” has begun operations in Istalif district of Kabul province, with an investment of $10 million.
The factory was inaugurated today by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, who described the investment as a “significant step” towards the development of Afghanistan.
He highlighted that dried fruits are among Afghanistan’s key export items and emphasized the government’s efforts to expand the export of agricultural products.
Discussions have been held with representatives from various countries to promote Afghanistan’s export potential.
Officials from the Samon factory stated that it has been established on 128 acres of land, providing direct employment for 82 individuals and indirect employment for 3,000 farmers.
Although the factory was established in 2013, it officially started operations in 2025, with an annual processing capacity of 10,000 metric tons of raisins.
Notably, the provinces and districts in northern Kabul are well-suited for producing various types of grapes and raisins, earning national recognition for their quality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
