KABUL: Amid rising verbal tensions between Russian and U.S. officials, the Kremlin has stated that the improvement of relations between Moscow and Washington will be a lengthy process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Russian President noted the “deterioration of relations” between the U.S. and Russia, emphasizing that this situation has intensified during Joe Biden’s presidency and has remained severe, according to Russian state-run TASS news agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He mentioned that while there are efforts to improve bilateral relations and return them to a normal path, this process will take time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peskov described the current deterioration in U.S.-Russia relations as “unprecedented.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The remarks came in response to TASS’s observation regarding the lack of a meeting between the U.S. and Russian presidents, despite more than six and a half months since Donald Trump’s return to the White House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Previously, the longest wait for a meeting between leaders of the White House and the Kremlin was recorded during Trump’s first presidency, lasting 5 months and 18 days.
